Crown Isle is one of the two largest real estate developments in the Comox Valley. This 871- acre housing development surrounds a master planned 18-hole golf course with extraordinary views. Some homes are nestled up against the golf course while most are located off of it. The first single family property sold on the Multiple Listing Service back in 1992 and homes bought and sold through this system have been active ever since.
The initial focus of Crown Isle was the 18-hole Platinum rated golf course and the clubhouse located at 399 Clubhouse Drive. Things have changed a lot since the early 1990s. This high-end housing development has expanded considerably and the latest addition is now underway with Cambridge Park Estates. This 67-lot addition will link the southern end of Crown Isle Drive with the northern end. Once complete this main street will encircle the golf course in the area of the 13th and 14 fairways.
Even though the completion of the development of the Crown Isle Drive lots will mark a major milestone for the overall development of this upper end home development, much more development remains to be undertaken on both the north side across Ryan Road and the south side past the 3rd and 4th fairways. Many more years of construction in these two areas remains before the full 871 acres is adorned with homes.
Union Bay Estates is the other major housing development in the Comox Valley and it is in its early stages of development. Stay tuned in 2019 for more information on this 850-acre development south of Royston. Currently planned is a new marina, shopping and restaurants to complement this community of new homes, townhomes and condominiums. About 16% of the development will be dedicated to new parks and trails. This effort will significantly change the landscape of this part of the Comox Valley.
The bulk of the homes in Crown Isle are custom and semi-custom built by quality home builders. While most the lots in the currently developed areas are sold, a few will come available as the new areas continue to be serviced and developed. Important to note is that Crown Isle purchased the 75-acre property nearby known as Longlands Golf Course in June of 2018. Plans for this additional land have not yet been made public by Crown Isle.
Anyone not familiar with the Comox Valley or Crown Isle who plans to move to the area and purchase a higher end home should start their journey with a visit to this golf course community. This community is part of the Courtenay real estate market and it is very near to some of the finer homes in the adjacent town of Comox. Most of the homes sit on freehold land. There are some condominiums, some townhomes, and some bare land stata properties. If you want quality this is an area with lots of it.
