Crown Isle continues to grow and develop as expansion into new areas moves forward. This luxurious community has come a long way since the first home was listed for sale on the MLS back in August of 1992 at an asking price of just under $250,000. Royal Vista and Crown Isle Drive were the early focus of these listings. Subsequently, homes on Kensington Crescent, Regency Place, Windsor, and Monarch and Majestic Drive were added to the new listings. This initial core area of Crown Isle started to expand and York Place and Suffolk Crescent were developed along with Sussex Drive.
In the past few years this area has expanded to the other side of Ryan Road with the housing development in the Rise and it is in the process of moving down the hill toward the beautiful scenery of the Strait of Georgia. There are now four phases of the Rise that have been planned. The gated area of Hampton Gate has expanded beyond its first phase with two more phases to complete it and Crown Isle Drive is now being extended towards the south in order to eventually circle the golf course. The latest phases of the Crown Isle Drive extensions are V and VI and are called Cambridge Park Estates.
It was only a few years ago when the entry level to a single-family home was in the $450,000 range. Throughout 2016 and 2017 prices continued to climb and new home builders scurried to meet rising demand for custom and semi-custom-built homes. Ranchers and rancher style homes with bonus rooms were a very popular option with mature buyers and they constitute many of the new homes being built today. The various builders in the area each offer some unique style and finishing to meet the needs of the most demanding buyers. As 2018 comes to a close it is increasingly difficult to find a single-family home for sale in Crown Isle for less than$650,000 and new ones often start at $700,000 and go up from there. Having said this, the old adage “you get what you pay for” is just as true today as it always has been. If you want a luxury home and you want to live in a high-end subdivision, Crown Isle should be on your list.
Crown Isle is within walking distance to the Crown Isle Plaza, Costco, Home Depot, the Comox Valley Aquatic Centre, North Island College and the new hospital. As well, it is about a 5-minute drive to the airport, the town of Comox and downtown Courtenay. Few area amenities and attractions are more than a 10-minute drive away. Convenience is one of the advantages of this increasingly popular neighbourhood.
